Ingredients
Burger Assembly
- 2 beef patties (grilled or pan-seared)
- 2 slices mozzarella cheese
- 2 grilled pineapple rings
- 4–6 tbsp peach-mango salsa
- Honey BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby recommended) OR Homemade Sauce (see below)
- 2 toasted hamburger buns
- Optional Add-ons:
- Crispy bacon strips
- Leaf lettuce or arugula
- Pickled red onion
Optional Homemade Hawaiian BBQ Sauce(Use if you don't have bottled sauce)
- 1/3 cup BBQ sauce (any base)
- 2 tbsp pineapple juice (from your pineapple)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp honey or brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp grated ginger (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce (Optional): In a small bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce base, pineapple juice, soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), and grated ginger until smooth. Set aside.
- Preheat your grill or skillet to medium-high heat.
- Season the beef patties to taste and cook for 3-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- While the burgers cook, place the pineapple rings on the grill or in the pan for 2-3 minutes per side until they have nice char marks or caramelization.
- In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each patty to melt.
- Toast the buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.
- Assemble the burgers: Place lettuce or arugula on the bottom bun, followed by the cheesy patty.
- Top with a grilled pineapple ring, a generous scoop of peach-mango salsa, and optional pickled red onions or bacon.
- Drizzle the top bun with your Honey BBQ or Homemade Hawaiian sauce and close the burger.
